SAMSUNG The Wall luxury 292-inch 8k modular TV.

Samsung has announced a new version of The Wall, its massive modular microlead TV. The new version, known as The Wall Luxury, has a maximum 8K resolution that creates a TV that measures 292 inches from corner to corner. Alternatively, the TV's 2K configuration is available, which is just 73 inches larger.

Wall Luxury has a higher resolution compared to Samsung's earlier Microled prototypes, but it takes up a lot of space. Shown back at CES is The Wall's version of a 4K Microlled TV, which is only 75 inches larger, with a 2K resolution in its 73-inch configuration compared to this version.

Samsung's Microlled technology is modular, which means it can be configured for different sizes and resolutions. These modules clip together like a Lego. However, while you can increase the resolution of the entire TV, you cannot increase the resolution of its individual modules. You can only add more pixels using more modules.

Microlide is a new type of display technology that uses individual LEDs to create an image, in contrast to existing LED TVs, to create light from behind the LCD layer. This means that the black areas of the image are completely black because their pixels do not emit any light. This is a self-emitting technology similar to OLED, but should not suffer from the same risks as low maximum brightness and burn-in. Samsung says The Wall Luxury is rated for 100,000 hours of use and it can achieve a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.

Samsung has not yet announced pricing for The Wall Luxury, but at these sizes and specs, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."
